Narosa Visual Identity
Narosa School of Surf is a surf school and shop in Dunfanaghy, Donegal, Ireland. It’s been operating since 2009 and is famous for its family orientated service and high quality standard.
Narosa is a warm, approachable, authentic, lifestyle style brand and has initially been designed by friends of the founders. The brand recognition was quite strong already with a lot of kids doing surf lessons and proudly wearing Narosa hoodies all over Ireland and the UK.
The main challenge here was to resist following the first association most people have when it comes to surfing. The client wanted a redesign keeping the authenticity and approachability of the existing brand but achieving a fresher, cleaner and more professional look. Overcoming the pretentious image of surfing is one of Narosa’s primary goals and had to be reflected in the visual identity.
I did a logo redesign, established typography guidelines for print and digital use, developed a color scheme complementing the existing “Narosa Blue” and found a visual language in photography, texts and promoting materials to reflected the highly personal approach of the surf school.

I started the redesign process for Narosa in 2012 and have been the company’s lead graphic and digital designer ever since.
